“Birds in Snow” Stocking -- January 27, 2009
I stitched the “Birds in Snow” stocking in the early to mid 1990’s.
At that time we were pretty much limited to DMC, Kreinik metallics, wool, and Mill Hill beads, or at least that’s what I had access to.
The entire ornament was stitched in Continental and Basketweave using either Paternayan or DMC’s Medici.
It’s been finished as a stocking with blue wool cording and with a blue wool tassel. The back and inside are white moiré.
I would have selected this design as I enjoy stitching designs with birds. This is an interesting design as it’s a night scene and there is a stream flowing through the snowy landscape. I would have selected the wool threads to soften the design.
I don’t have any records as to the designer. If you know, please let me know.
Hope you enjoyed my “Birds in Snow” stocking!

Cynthia,
That stocking is very very nice and to me anyway looks so very peaceful. I love it :-)
Pierrette =^..^=
How cute! Even though you would use different fibers today, I like it!
Hi Cyn,
The stocking is really very nice; I'm enjoying your finishes. Do you do your own finishing? I finish about half and send the other half off for professional attention. I'm not always pleased with my finishing, but then again I'm not always pleased with the professionals either. LOL! Waiting for more finishes, patiently.

Cyn, that's a lovely stocking. I love bird things too. Especially for Christmas. That one's just darling.
BTW, I'm behind on my reading, but I have to note that I love all your recent postings. That little fall round is adorable. So, do you have a pile of things waiting for the finisher? I'm starting to develop one--- just no money for finishing these days.
Oh and the cone Santa is wonderful. I have a skinny icicle Santa that I've been wanting to start for a year now. I'll have to post a pick and see what you think I ought to do with him. I just know he can be absolutely fantastic :)
What a pretty and unusual design Cyn.
Just wanted to say hi! I am sure you are busy with life. Look forward to seeing what you are up to stitching wise.
This is a very beautiful stocking ornament. The colors are gorgeous together. Happy Valentine's Day!
Are you OK? It's been a while, and you know how we are...we worry!
